Hi folks,
just few older pictures, the hook for alarm bell (again I copied this from Boden - genius modeller who made beutiful model of this ship, also presented on this forum) and catheads. That small rollers are made from scratch - walnut squared log - it was quite hard to made
Next time I will send you the newest photos from building lifeboat from scratch. I could not use that ugly plastic thing included in the kit as lifeboat
Cheers,
Michal

Hi sailors,
as promised, here is my build of lifeboat.
Would you believe that when you buy kit of WOODEN ship, that you will find some PLASTIC ugly pieces in that, which are intended for lifeboats ?
I decided to make it completely from scratch, the result is not bad, in my opinion

and the boat is finished. At this time, I was not sure, what boat is better, if plastic one provided in the kit, or my wooden one
I tried to put both inside the ship, what do you think, what the boat looks better ?
soon I will send you pics of whole ship in her current state.

hahah, yes I think so
sure, I will attach rope, once I will do rigging. Also whole boat will be fit to the stand by ropes. I also intend to put some bucket into the boat - just for case that sailors will go through rough seas and water come inside

Well done, majq.
I've only a little dubt: perhaps you should place a few ribs more, thinner than those that hold benches. Anyway, wooden boat forever!!!!

Hi Trink, yes you are right, ribs seems to me thick as well. When I made them, I feared that I break them, thus they are so thick. Anyways, the result is not soooo bad, I leave it as it is, I do not want to make it more wrong
Finally I had a piece of time during the weekend, so I made few photos of La Couronne, you can see where I am with build now.
Currently I am doing masts, but not get photos of them.
Enjoy !
Michal

Hi Michal,
thanks for this photo sharing. The more you build this model, the more it's becoming interesting. Only a question: I see, you placed vertical strips in the coat-of arms and in the wall of bow deck. Usually, I've ever seen horizoontal ones; did you follow user's manual instructions?
Cheers
Alex

Hi Alex,
I do not follow user's manual since I assembled bulkheads on keel. If you have ever seen manuals provided by Mantua, you could not be surprised
Anyways, you are again right, I know that strips should be placed horizontally, someone called my attention to this fact on MSW, I think. As per Mantua's plans, the stern should be covered by compact walnut veneer (not strips, but one piece of veneer). I did some mistake with that, so I had to cover it by strips. And because it is my first build and I had not experiences with it, I placed that strips wrongly. But I think it is does not look so bad. I know, from historic and shipwright point of view it is bad, but I absolutely do not want to try to make EXACT copy of ship, how she has been built in 17th century. I am satisfied, that she looks good for me If I will build some next ship, once current will be completed, I will place strips correctly I am thinking about Sovereign of the seas, but current model will take me 2 years to finish, I think.
All the best !
Michal
