Fimo and Cernit are both polymer clays, but have small differences. You can get Fimo clay which is a bit tough to condition, but holds find details well. Then you have Fimo Soft, which is a softer and more malleable clay. It is easy to condition, but may sometimes become a bit too soft to hold details, like required in cane work.
Cernit is even softer than Fimo soft, and the colors are slightly translucent, something that makes it very popular with doll makers. It is considered to have superb strength after curing.
